In Sheema
Christians from Sheema district have divided themselves into groups over the proposed Central Ankole Diocese.
It is alleged that some group of people from Sheema through west Ankole diocese applied for their own diocese which they named Central Ankole diocese [CAD] meaning that they no longer want to belong to current West Ankole Diocese under Bishop Rt Rev Johnson Twinomujuni.
Dr Mesearch Katusiime who heads the diocese struggle said that its true that they applied for new diocese formally, the SYNOD meeting approved their request and gave them guidelines to follow before they are given the diocese.
Zaddock Amanyisa spokesperson West Ankole diocese said that this isnt the right time Sheema should be asking for their own diocese.
In a telephone interview with the senior presidential advisor Hon Chris Rwakasiisi, he said that this is not the right time for Sheema district to be independent from West Ankole diocese,
“Even if we multiply dioceses, archdeaconries, parishes and sub parishes, as long as we have no love, all is in vain. We need Jesus Christ more than we need bishops, we need guidance from the Holy spirit more than we need cathedrals, Ankole has one catholic bishop , tell me , dont their schools perform better?, what about their hospitals , many people outside there dont support this so called sheema diocese but they are shy to tell you , now this is my take, crucify me for it.” Chris Rwakasiisi
