Kabwohe Health Centre IV the main health centre for Sheema municipality is in a sorry state due to lack of toilets, medical personnels and can’t afford paying for electricity.
People allege that they go to the health centre to be treated some diseases, but end up picking other diseases especially those spread through dirty.
The health centre which welcomes more than 650 sick people daily has only one toilet with three doors where by one is for men, another one for women and the third for the staff and guests.
Still, the health centre IV doesn’t have surgical doctors and the related equipments and this has left many people especially pregnant women in a dilemma whereby if a woman needs to be operated, she must be transferred to Mbarara or Bushenyi which takes almost an hour and more to reach there.
According to Sheema municipality health inspector Dr Denis Tumusiime, they are trying to put everything in order.
“It’s true we don’t have toilets at our health centre 4, but we have already
written to the ministry of health to give us money and we construct like two
toilets because our people are suffering.
For surgery, we don’t have a doctor to operate our mothers or anyone needs
operation, but what we do is to transfer them to Mbarara referral hospital,
still we don’t have an oxygen cylinder but we trying to borrow one from
Kitagata referral hospital such that we start saving the lives of our people,” Dr
Denis revealed
Sheema municipality Town clerk Justine Barekye told us that they have already requested the ministry of health to give them 1.5Billion shillings to construct toilets.
Recently, former Sheema municipality MP contestant who stood on FDC ticket Hon Plan Virginia Mugyenyi started a move to fundraise and they construct toilets but she was interfered by some government Mafia’s.
Last year during Sheema municipality by elections, Minister for science and technology who is the current Sheema municipality MP Hon Dr Elioda Tumwesigye promised to put the said health centre IV at a better standard but instead it is now worse.
