SHEEMA: SUSPECTED BODA BODA MURDERER NARROWLY SURVIVES DEATH

Ainea Aijuka, a resident of Kashunga village Sheema district yesterday survived death when an angry mob of residents and boda boda riders attacked him on suspicion that he killed a boda boda cyclist who went missing on Monday, July 01, 2019 Andrew Agaba.
The lifeless body of Agaba, was found in Kyogera swamp, since his disappearance on Monday.
Following his disappearance, his family went to a witchdoctor who assured them that when the deceased’s body arrives home, the murderer will be seen running away which happened, prompting the crowd to gang up and hunt for Ainea Aijuka who was seen taking off before being held by the mob.
Hours later, boda boda riders from different trading centres coordinated and arrived, beating him nearly to death.
He was rescued by Police officers from Sheema police station.
According to police, it was forced to fire live bullets to disperse the villagers who destroyed the suspects’ belongings including his house, and parents’ property like banana plantation, cows were cut and houses burnt.
He is receiving treatment as investigations continue.
Police have condemned the intentions and acts of mob justice.
Boda boda riders have expressed their worries due to increased cases of motorcycle robbery and murder of the riders in the areas of Sheema, Kabwohe, Kanyeganyegye, Masheruka, Muzira and other places.
