SIX ARRESTED OVER WOMAN’S DEATH IN RUKUNGIRI

Police in Rukungiri district have arrested six people in connection to the murder of a 40 year old woman.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson identified the deceased as Generous Komugisha, a resident Bwanda parish, Buhunga sub- county in Rukungiri district.
Maate also identified the arrested as David Bamporwari , Annette Tushabe , Jane Twijukye, Peace Turyahabwe , Alex Muhumuza and Ponsiano Kaharuza all residents of Bwanda parish, Buhunga sub- county Rukungiri district.
“We arrested these people to help us in investigating the circumstances under which this woman was killed,” said Maate.
Maate told our reporter that the Police swung into action after, unnamed informer confided to the Police at Buhunga police post in Buhunga sub- County that a person had been killed in Rwega village and her relatives were arranging to bury her without reporting.
Maate said that this raised suspicion and the Police led by the officer in charge of Buhunga Police post Stephen Twinomugisha rushed to the scene and retrieved the body.
Twinomugisha told our reporter said that the deceased’s body had bruises all over which suggested that she was strangled to death.
“The whole body of the deceased had bruises and this clearly tells that this person might have been strangled to death” Twinomugisha noted.
The body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary for postmortem and a murder case was registered at Rukungiri central Police station under reference number CRB 2011/2020.
