According to an investigation piece carried out by www.mknewslink.com managing director Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante in regard to whether Iddi Bassajjabala, a son to tycoon Hassan Bassajjabalaba bought the sitting MP for Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, Derrick Beimuke Kabuura out of the race of the July NRM primaries and the general elections for 2026, it has been established that the rumor is actually true.
Information from credible sources have intimated to this publication that it’s true the transaction indeed took place. It is believed that through his tycoon father, Mr. Iddi Basssajjabalaba paid Mr. Kabuura a whooping UGX1B.
The informers have told us that an installment of UGX700M has already been given to Mr Kabuura, and that the balance will be following soon.
When Mr. Kabuura’s uncle, Mr. Apollo Behimukye (BAM), who is said to have introduced him to the political field was contacted on the matter, he did not give any response despite him having received and WhatsApp messages from this writer.
Speaking to the aspiring MP Mr. Iddi Bassajjabalaba himself, he denied and said he did not know anything regarding any transaction between him and Mr. Kabuura.
“I do not know anything about that deal. I also just hear it from people. So I cannot tell you about anything I do not know,” Mr. Iddi Bassajjabalaba said on phone when contacted.
It is believed that the deal was brokered by senior presidential advisor on security matters Mr. Chris Rwakasis and retired mayor of Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, Mr. Jackson Kamugasha.
During a phone call discussion between Mr. Kamugasha and www.mknewslink.com managing director, Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante, Kamugasha answered in the affirmative all questions put to him but when he was asked about the deal, he started claiming that his phone had lost network and that he would call back but has never called and its one week now.
According to this investigation, it is understood that the two people who played as brokers for the deal, went home smiling after their accounts had been credited too as a thank you from Mr. Iddi Bassajjabalaba.
As you read this piece, both camps have gone into silence mood with no body talking about the transaction. The campaign mood is also low in the entire constituency implying that the winner has already been decided and so everyone knows who the next MP will be.
When Mr. Kasibante contacted tycoon Bassajjabalaba for an interview on the same, he threatened that he would be arrested and taken to Bushenyi prison in Nyabusheshera if he published the story. In reply, Kasibante told the messengers that he does not in fear of any prison in the country.
