SPEAKER KADAGA DIRECTS BUSHENYI DPC TO ARREST MEN WHO BEAT WIVES

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwara Kadaga has directed Bushenyi Police to investigate and arrest men who beat their wives (domestic violence).
“I don’t know whether DPC for Bushenyi is here but cases of domestic violence reported by leaders here should be dealt with conclusively,” Kadaga directs.
She said this today at Mungonga play ground in Kyeizooba sub county Bushenyi District while presiding over the Belated Women’s day celebrations.
“When I was in Mitooma District, I was told that men bit their women during harvest season while demanding money from them (wives),” Kadagga said.
Kadagga also in the morning launched the construction of reusable sanitary pads for girls and fortified foods factory at Katungu in Bushenyi town.
Mary Karooro Okurut the Minister of general duties and woman MP for Bushenyi district is the leader behind the reusable sanitary pads for girls and fortified foods.
Minister Karooro in an interview told www.mknewslink.com editor that she will make sure that the two factories are completed and that one of sanitary pads will help girls to remain in schools unlike today when girls are dropping out due to lack of sanitary pads.
For fortified food factory will help to curb malnutrition which is in some parts of Bushenyi district.
The MP for Igara East Micheal Mawanda Maranga whose constituency where the belated women’s day celebrations was held called upon his voters to remain united and work for development.
Mawanda, Karooro and Haji Bassaja Balaba offered three cows, each one as one way of thanking her for Bushenyi District.
Bushenyi District Chairman Jafari Basaja Balaba told speaker Kadaga that they have been praying for her in order to recover from sickness that disturbed recently.
