Willian to United hopes dashed
Former West Ham and Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes Chelsea will not sell Willian to Manchester United due to the success of Nemanja Matic
The Serb moved across from London to Manchester for £40m last summer, before thriving in his first season at Old Trafford.
And Hislop says Chelsea will have learned from their mistakes.
“You see how well Nemanja Matic did in his switch from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford,” he told ESPN.
“Now, you’re tempted to say Willian would do the exact same. But if you’re Chelsea you’re thinking ‘we’re not going to make that same mistake twice’.
“So as a result, the uncertainty doesn’t help Willian’s prospects and certainly it works doubly negatively in his prospects to move to Old Trafford.”
Toni Kroos’ future at Real Madrid undecided
The Germany international is a long-term target for the Red Devils, with Mourinho said to be a big admirer of the 28-year-old.
However, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Kroos will not be heading to Old Trafford this summer.
They reckon United boss Mourinho has decided to cool his interest in the former Bayern Munich midfielder.
Alderweireld doubts
Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to miss out on Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
However, according to ESPN, Tottenham are demanding around £70m for the centre-back, with United currently willing to pay £50m.
They add that Jose Mourinho is looking at other targets should United fail to land Alderweireld this summer.
Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet, Raphael Varane of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng are on Mourinho’s three-man transfer shortlist.
Pogba to leave?
Man Utd star Paul Pogba has reportedly been offered to Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The France international has struggled to impress at Old Trafford following his £89m return to United in 2016.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Pogba wants to leave United this summer.
They say the France key man has been offered to Chelsea, Barcelona and Real.
Don Balon add that Pogba would rather join La Liga giants Barca should he leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
The United star is said to be keen to work with Ernesto Valverde at the Nou Camp.
Stoney appointed
Manchester United have appointed Casey Stoney as their new Women’s head coach.
The 36-year-old, who played for Liverpool and Arsenal during her career, has been appointed as the club’s first ever women’s manager.
“To build a team, to build a philosophy, with the biggest club in the world… for me, there is no more exciting opportunity,” said Stoney after her appointment.
United’s official men’s Twitter account changed the bio and banner to broadcast the news.
Pogba swap?
Man Utd star Paul Pogba could be heading to Real Madrid in a stunning swap deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, reports in Spain claim.
Red Devils midfielder Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after numerous bust-ups with Jose Mourinho this season.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, the Red Devils are willing to offer Pobga in a swap deal for Real talisman Ronaldo.
United feel a player-plus-cash offer would convince the Spanish giants to let Ronaldo return to Old Trafford this summer.
Don Balon add that Mourinho has given the green light to selling Pobga in the coming weeks.
Pogba to Juve?
Paulo Dybala wants Paul Pogba to return to Juventus.
PSG have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old in recent months.
But Dybala wants the midfielder to return to the Juventus Stadium in the near future.
“With Paul I kept a good relationship even after his departure for England,” he told TYC Sport.
“With him I was very good on the pitch, we had a lot of feeling, even outside the field we always felt very good.
“I feel that if he could come back, it will be very good for our friendship.
“We would stop making video calls and we would go back to training together.”
Jose eyes former Toon defender
Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing former Newcastle youngster Kevin Mbabu to replace Matteo Darmian.
LIVERPOOL OFFLOADS EMRE CAN AND JON FLANAGAN
The Reds have announced their retained list of players for the 2018/19 season and Jon Flanagan and Emre Can are the big names leaving the club.
It ends months of speculation over the latter’s situation with the German having refused to sign a new deal.
Can has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus in recent months despite Jurgen Klopp being keen to keep him on.
Can, who joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, made his 167th and final appearance for Liverpool in last month’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid.
Academy graduate Flanagan, meanwhile, departs having featured in 51 senior games following his 2011 debut against Manchester City.
Manchester City are still working on deals to bring in their first players of the summer transfer window as they continue negotiations for a number of players.
But one player who won’t be coming to the Etihad is Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt. Pep Guardiola has ruled out a move for the defender, with the Manchester City manager determined to focus on his midfield and attack this summer.
The Premier League champions have been repeatedly linked with the 18-year-old centre-back, who is a target for Tottenham. But Guardiola has no plans to make any additions to his rearguard after spending around £180m in that department over the past 12 months.
City are still negotiating on deals for Riyad Mahrez and Jorginho with Mateo Kovacic and Mario Lemina also on Guardiola’s radar.
Manchester United have confirmed they will release eight players – and are awaiting a response from six others on contract offers.
The club issued their annual released and retained list via the Premier League’s website and it confirms eight players will leave the club.
The first name on the list comes as no surprise. Michael Carrick has retired following a successful 12-year playing career at Old Trafford to join Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff.
Carrick is the only first-team player to be named on the list and the rest being the academy U23 players. They include Goalkeeper Max Johnstone, defender Joe Riley, midfielder Devonte Redmond, Theo Richardson
