SPORTS: WESTERN UGANDA YOUTHS TO PERFORM AT OLYMPICS TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP IN JAPAN, TRAINING UNDERWAY

Youths in western region have started training in martial arts as they prepare for the forth coming Olympics taekwondo championships.The Taekwondo tournament shall take place in Japan in 2020.

This is going to be the first time for Ugandan Taekwondo players to participate in Olympics if they qualify during the Olympic Taekwondo qualifiers.

Arinaitwe Bright the Taekwondo and Karate instructor however said that the Uganda Taekwondo federation has not come out to support them.

He said youths are just training on their own and lack training kits like punching bags, carpets, head gears, hogos, and uniforms among others

Rodgers Origuma the western regional Taekwondo representative said that the federation has been very dormant since the sports calendar year began because taekwondo players in the country have not had any tournament or a seminar.

He said there are threeindividuals elected as presidents in one position of federation which he said is really putting taekwondo into a state of quagmire
