STOP TEACHING IRRELEVANT COURSES IN UNIVERSITIES—JANET MUSEVENI WARNS

The Minister of education and sports Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni has warned Ugandan universities to stop teaching courses that are irrelevant to the job market.
This message was contained in a speech read for her by Tourism and wild life minister Ephraim Kamuntu who represented her at fundraising and thanks giving function of Ankole Western University.
The function which was held yesterday, minister kataha museveni warned universities to immediately stop teaching courses that are not competitive in the job market.
“Universities should start teaching courses that are skills based whereby when a student graduates; he/she is able to employ herself or himself. Graduates after finishing universities should not move from one street to another looking for jobs” Janet Museveni said in a speech read for by Minister Kamuntu.
Mrs Museveni pledged 10 million shillings towards the constructions of the Vice chancellor’s house. She also promised that Government had plans to start supporting Ankole Western University.
The Vice chancellor of Ankole Western University, Dr. Misharach Katusiimeh called upon Government to support private Universities in the establishment of structures like how it does to public Universities.
17,320,450= Ugandan shilling was raised from the fundraising. The money is meant to construct a vice chancellor’s house.
