STOP TORTURING CIVILIANS—MP KARUHANGA WARNS SECURITY OPERATIVES

The Ntungamo Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Gerald Karuhanga has warned security operatives against torturing Ugandans.
Karuhanga was speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter in an exclusive interview today Tuesday 12th May 2020.
Karuhanga has been making news since April when he took parliament to court over 20 Million shillings given to each Member of Parliament. The story has been making a new twist every day.
Karuhanga said that the security operatives especially the LDUs have been on a spot for torturing Ugandans especially when implementing the current Covid lockdown and curfew measures.
“Your role is to protect Ugandans and their property but not beating them, you have become too harshâ€, Karuhanga said.
He cited some of the cases where the LDU Personnel and other security officials went astray;
Unnamed Local Defense Unit (LDU) personnel on Sunday shot dead one person and injured another critically in a night operation in Kween District.
Police identified the deceased as Alfred Mwanga, 46, a resident of Kapkwata village in Kapkwata Sub County while the injured was identified as David Denis Chemusto, 30, a resident of Kamunjan village in the same Sub County.
In another case, Four Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldiers have been arrested on allegations of killing a man and raping a woman in Bushenyi District.
Residents of Kyeigombe Village, Kyabugimbi in Bushenyi district accused the soldiers deployed at MotaEngil stone quarry of killing Vincent Tumuhimbise and raping a 22 year old woman on Friday evening.
Recently, an LDU personnel shot dead two people including a pregnant woman at Byansi Clinic in Masaka Municipality, Masaka District.
