SUBCOUNTY CHIEF ARRESTED IN KAKUMIRO FOR MISUSING PUBLIC FUNDS

Police of Kakumiro have arrested a senior assistant secretary formerly referred to as the sub-county chief of Kijanji sub-county over allegations of misusing public funds and abuse of office.
The suspect has been identified as Emmanuel Kasibante.
This has been revealed by the District police commander Kakumiro District ASP Edgar Kolaigye today afternoon while speaking to press at Kakumiro police headquarters.
Kolaigye said that they received complaints from Kijanji people on how government funds were being misused. The state minister for transport Hon Fred Byamukama directed police to arrest him.
DPC Kolaigye has also warned all civil servants to use the funds allocated to the district appropriately and warned to arrest anyone who will fail to use the funds properly.
Speaking to our reporter in his office, the Deputy Chief administrative officer Kakumiro District Fredrick Byekwaso confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Kasibante.
He says that special auditing in Kijanji sub-county is ongoingto ascertain how the money for councilors and covid funds were used.
