Bushenyi Ishaka municipal speaker Evarist Mucunguzi Rwambuga has narrowly survived the censure at the mercies of Raphael Magyezi the minister of local government.
The minister of Local government last night called a meeting of councilors which lasted almost 8 hours and the censure motion was put to the dustbin after a long discussion.
The minister, the implicated speaker or the mayor never spoke to the media immediately after the meeting.
However, today morning in an exclusive interview the minister intimated to www.mknewslink.com, that the speaker survived censure after the councilors forgave him.
Sources who attended the meeting told www.mknewslink.com that 7 of the councilors refused to forgive the speaker.
The censure process of Bushenyi Ishaka municipal speaker Evarist Rwambuga has been in high gear and the motion was duly prepared.
Bushenyi Ishaka municipality councilors accused Rwambuga of abuse of office, failure to control; illegal construction, street parking, dictatorship, and incompetence.
In a petition submitted to the office of the mayor, DISO; councilors alleged that the speaker instructed the town clerk not to pay councilors’ allowances to some of them without giving a good reason.
They also noted that the speaker does not allow them to discuss issues freely in the council but ends up making his own decisions citing out issues of illegal construction and failure to account for the councilors’ benefits among others.
When contacted by www.mknewslink.com Rwambuga said he is ready to file a defense on the allegations levied against him.
