The Bushenyi Ishaka municipal principal education officer Dan Mugyenyi has called upon government to retire teachers at the age of 55 years because they over work and by the time they clock 55, they are already exhausted.
Mugyenyi said this today 02nd August 2020 at the burial of Eva Muhairwe Tinka in Buramba ward, Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.
Eva Muhairwe Tinka has been a teacher at Bassajabalaba primary school and she had taught for over 40 years according to Dan Mugyenyi.
Some years back, Teachers and traditional civil servants used to retire at 55 years but the age was later extended to 60 which DEO Mugyenyi does not agree with.
“Leaders at this ceremony like MP Cowboy or in case he is replace in the next parliament, you should make a law to reduce on teachers’ retirement age from 60 to 55 years,” Mugyenyi proposed.
When the area MP for Bushenyi Ishaka Cowboy who is seeking re election to parliament told mourners that he does not agree with DEO Mugyenyi because people at 60 years are still young and vibrant thus willing to work.
He however said that in government agencies like UNRA, URA etc staff retire at 55 which is not the case with teachers and traditional civil servants.
The son in law to Eva Muhairwe, Apollo Lee Kakonge who is also the CEO for WASCOF called upon people to unite and hailed MBUGA for fighting corruption in Bushenyi district.
Other aspirants present include Derrick Kabura Baimukye for MP Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, Mumpe Martin Rushegyera for mayor ship Bushenyi Ishaka , Jaffari Bassajabalaba LCV Chairmanship and Tibasimwa Joram Ruranga elderly Western Uganda.
