TEACHERS TO RESIT PLE; NEW UNATU SECRETARY DEMANDS AN APOLOGY FROM NAKASEKE LC5

Teachers under their Umbrella body Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) have come out to demand for apology from Nakaseke district chairperson or they lay down their tools in protest.
Filbert Baguma, the General Secretary for UNATU while addressing journalists in Mbarara said that Nakaseke district chairperson and the entire council should come out and apologize to teachers for abusing their profession by passing a resolution that teachers should re-sit the PLE exams to iron out the poor performance in the district.
Recently Nakaseke district Council passed a resolution and a budget of five millions that all primary teachers in the district should re-sit the PLE exams citing that some teachers do not understand what they teach.
Ignatius Komu the Nakaseke district chairperson while speaking to press confirmed the passing of the resolution and said that it is for the good of education sector in the district.
Baguma added that bad performance should not only be attributed to teachers but all the stakeholders should play their part.
He said that all teachers are qualified therefore the district has no mandate to organize any exam at any level thereby challenging them to play their part.
