TEENAGER KNOCKED DEAD BY SAND TRUCK IN KANUNGU

Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances under which a juvenile pedestrian was knocked dead at Kihembe Kankooko.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Gilbert Namanya a 16year old resident of Kitookye cell, Burebane parish Kanyantorogo Sub county Kanungu district.

Maate told www.mknewslink.com the accident occurred on 16^th June 2022 at around 1800hours when a vehicle reg. no. UBK 465L Isuzu elf knocked and injured the boy on its way to pick sand from Kihembe side.

The driver drove off leaving the victim to death and he indeed died on the way to hospital.

Police visited the scene and did a postmortem before handing the body over to the relatives for burial.

Inquiries are at hand to ascertain the likely cause as well as tracing for the vehicle involved.

The case of hit and run fatal accident was registered at Kanungu Central Police station under reference number TAR: 26/2022.
