Thousands of friends, fans, political leaders thronged St. Kaggwa catholic church today evening to pray for a popular Bushenyi radio journalist, Mr. Hillary Musinguzi Tibanyendera.
The late Musinguzi died in an accident yesterday night at around 11:20pm at Kabagarame road near St.Kaggwa Bushenyi high school, between Ishaka and Bushenyi towns in Bushenyi district.
Before his death, he had worked at crane radio, situated in Ishaka town since 2008 and was a host of popular talk show called Orusaniya Rwamaziima which aired every Saturday between 10am to 1:00pm.
At the service which began at exactly 3:00pm was attended by a very big number of residents of Bushenyi district and shrouding districts who praised him for being a professional journalist who did not fear threats from politicians and big people.
One of the speakers Mr. Celestine Twinomugisha told mourners that Hillary had left a legacy in western Ugandan media and in education because of the school he had started, Bushenyi Municipal Academy.
Celestine added that for him as the chairman PTA for the school will ensure that together with the late Hillary’s wife Abby Musinguzi, the school will continue to shine.
The chairman of Bushenyi Journalists and media Association Mr. Chris Mugasha told the Bushenyi district chairman Mr. Jafari Basajabalaba to quickly solve a problem of the district service commission which he has adamantly refused to appoint for now two years.
“Bushenyi district leaders, I can see a district chairman here ensure that a stone that is failing Bushenyi district to function is sorted out immediately such that our colleague Hillary rests in peace. He has been an advocate of peace and service delivery” Mugasha said.
In response Jafari promised to sit with MPs from Bushenyi, councilors and stakeholders to sort out the problem.
Tomorrow Monday, was a planned peaceful demonstration demanding Mr. Jafari to allow the district service commission to work. Which him and his brother Tycoon Hassan Basajabalaba had refused to work.
The demo has been postponed because of the burial of Hillary which will take place tomorrow Monday in Kakindo town council Kyangyenyi in Sheema district.
