THREE DROWN IN KYANKWANZI DAM, BODIES YET TO BE RETRIEVED

Three people have drowned in a dam in Kololo Butembe sub county in Kyankwanzi district.
The incident happened yesterday (Wednesday) evening while the three family members who had gone to fetch water in the dam.
Ms. Robinah Nakatemba the area chairperson has only identified the drowned as Ali, Farouk, and Seruke aged between 19-24years of age.
Nakatemba explains Seruka and Farouk drowned as they were fetching water on the evening of Wednesday, Ali who attempted to rescue them also drowned.
She also adds that residents fetch water from the dam Judith Kande dug for her cattle in the farm. She is appealing to the leaders to do the needful and retrieve the bodies.
According to Francis Kabagambe a resident, Kande announced on local radio stations warning residents from fetching water from the dam because of its depth, but they insisted.
Kabagambe also noted that the two after fetching water decided to swim but they drowned, and the other who also attempted to rescue them also drowned.
Efforts to get a comment from Judith Kande the owner of the dam were futile by the time we filed this story since she had fled the area.
By press time Police were already at the scene but not ready to give comment on the matter.
