THREE FOREST ENCROACHERS NETTED IN NTUNGAMO

Police in Ntungamo is holding three suspects over encroaching on Ntungamo National Forestry Authority Reserve.
This follows the resolution passed by the Ntungamo District security meeting chaired by RDC Ntungamo Justine Mbabazi held on February 13th 2018 in the office the RDC to arrest and prosecute all environment and forestry encroachers especially the one on Ntungamo-Mirama Hills Road in order to implement president Museveni’s directive in 2016.
In the operation led by the senior assistant town clerk Eastern Division Charles Najunah, the Municipal environmental officer Felix and police managed to arrest three suspects what they called a big catch who have been employing others to make trenches identified as Duncan Mbangira who deals in spirits and wines in Ntungamo Municipality,Asiimwe Moses from Kishami Ruhaama and an unidentified woman.
According to Najunah they have already encroached the government forest measured 13 hectares including Kakingoora wetland noting that they warned them but they turned deaf hears.
He said that after Ntungamo Municipal council passed the resolution to construct a road passing through the forest Mbangira and Asiimwe started selling plots of land to people, claiming that they had been authorized by the Municipal town clerk.
The Ntungamo OC CID Godes Twinamatsiko confirmed the arrest, saying that the file has been suctioned by the state attorney for the suspects to be charged with criminal tress pass and environmental degradation of government forest reserve.
