THREE YOUTH LIVELIHOOD FUNDS DEFAULTERS ARRESTED IN MASINDI

Three members of two youth groups in Pakanyi Sub County, Masindi district have been arrested for failing to pay back Youth Livelihood Program (YLP) money.
The youths were arrested today in an operation by a team of Masindi district officials led by the assistant Chief Administrative Officer; Fred Kisembo aimed at recovering YLP money from groups that have not paid back.
The arrested are Ibrahim Mugisa, Immaculate Kunihira from Kyarumbeiha produce group and a member of Kyamugweera hair dressing and salon group.
They were arrested from their respective homes and taken to Pakanyi police where they were left by the team.
Geoffrey Byenkya, the YLP focal person in the district revealed that 37 youth groups got money and over 200 million shillings was given out to several groups in Pakanyi Sub County under the program but only 12 groups have completely not paid back any money.
Fred Kisembo the Assiatant Chief administrative officer in charge of Buruli county observed the need for recovering the money from the groups so that other groups can also access the money.
Kisembo appealed to leaders to encourage the youths in their areas to pay back the money so that others can benefit from the program.
