TOO MUCH PRESSURE FORCES MBARARA UNIVERSITY VICE CHANCELLOR TO GO ON LEAVE

Uncertainty and pressure from staff, Mbarara university council have forced the university Vice Chancellor Prof. Celestine Obua to go into leave for 15 days.
According to sources from the university, his leave granted by the university council which started on March 1, 2019 will end on March 15, 2019.
On the other hand, the university council was supposed to sit today March 8, 2019 to decide on whether to renew his contract through appraisal or advertize his job of Vice chancellor but its a public holiday.

While speaking to www.mknewslink.com managing Editor today afternoon, the university council chairman Dr. Ben Mbonye revealed that the council will use two methods; appraisal or advertisement of the job.
He admitted that they wrote to the attorney general and they are still waiting for his reply to guide them the more.
Dr. Mbonye called upon parents, lecturers and the entire nation not to worry noting that by October 2019 Mbarara University shall have a vice chancellor.
He noted that there is no automatic renewal of vice chancellors contract. He said that it is not provided for in the law that governs higher institutions.
