TOORO KINGDOM OPERATES OVER 100 CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

In a bid to bring back hope to the people, over 100 children with disabilities have been operated during a one week 6th Tooro kingdom orthopedic health camp that kicked off on 15th June-2019 at the Fort portal Regional referral hospital commonly known as Buhinga.
According to the senior consultant orthopedic surgeon and Health minister Tooro kingdom Dr. Tito Byeyeza, they have operated children with Knee deformities (ebitege), bone infections, Olegs, club foot, and children with missing bones.
40% majority cases have come from Tooro kingdom and others have come as far as Bundibugyo, Kasese, and Muhoro in Bunyoro kindom.
Dr. Byeyeza has disclosed that in conjunction with the kingdom, donors like the Indian community from Fort portal municipality and a team of doctors from Mulago and Fort portal regional referral hospital have managed to operate all these children with in four days.
At least over 100 children are expected to be operated thus urging public to bring their children to enable them hit the target.
However, Dr. Byeyeza has observed that many cases of children with disabilities that are treatable are increasing in villages attributing it to poverty and some parents that are ignorant.
Birungi Hadija hailing from Buti Butangwa Karambi sub county Kabarole district whose son with one bone in the legs and hands commended Tooro kingdom of the offers saying that many women in villages are stuck with children with such cases but have no money for treatment.
The health camp will be closed on 22nd June-2019 by the Tooro kingdom King his royal majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi the fourth.
