TRADERS LOSE MILLIONS OF MONEY AS FIRE GUTS TIMBER KIOSKS IN MBARARA CITY

Over 40 traders in Mbarara city are counting losses following a fire that gutted kiosks workshops containing timber and cars.
The fire which started at around 03; 00AM in the morning is believed to have started as a result of a short circuit in one of the workshops.
Godfrey Mwesigwa, one of the businessmen who lost his workshop in the fire said that he has lost his machines worth 35 million UGX in the fires, and he is now appealing to the government to come to their rescue.
He said that most business owners have loans in banks and they are worried that banks might come after them looking for their (banks’) money.
Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi, the Mbarara city Mayor called for calmness within the business community as the government is trying to forge remedies for the affected businesses.
Some of the things that were gutted by fire included timbers and cars that belonged to the businessmen.
SSP Kato Joseph Deputy Regional Police commander Rwizi region said that so far police are investigating the matter to ascertain the would be cause of the fire.
