TULLOW OIL STAFF TESTS POSITIVE FOR CORONA VIRUS, FELLOWS UNDER QUARANTINE

One Tullow Oil staff has been confirmed Covid-19 positive in Buliisa district Albertine region.
According to the Buliisa District Health Educator- DHE Dr. Mugabe Robert, the confirmed case is a male aged 39, a cleaner in Tullow Oil Bugungu Camp.
He also says the patient has been confined in the camp since curfew commenced, and he has been only moving to the trading center to buy food.
22 samples of workers at the camp were on 27th May, 2020 collected and taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute and all tested negative but three samples went missing.
Dr. Mugabe says that the missing three samples were re-taken on Friday and one was on Sunday confirmed positive for corona virus.
Dr. Mugabe adds that the patient will be evacuated to Hoima regional referral hospital treatment center in Hoima district.
The patient’s workmates will be confined and restricted from movements.
Dr. Mugabe thus appeals to the public to be vigilant and report visitors and any Covid-19 suspect in the community.
