TWO BUHIMBA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE STUDENTS EXPELLED FOR LEADING STRIKE

Two out of the 16 students who were last year suspended for participating in a school strike at Buhimba Technical Institute- in Buhimba sub-county Kikuube district have been expelled.
The victims are Bills Kazibwe from Kyenkwanzi district pursuing a certificate in welding and Ismail Muhanuzi from Kyabigambire sub-county pursing a certificate in motor vehicle mechanics.
The duos were identified as the strike ring leaders during a stakeholder meeting aimed at addressing indiscipline cases by students held at the school campus
During the meeting, 14 other students who were among the suspended were cautioned, issued with warning letters and compelled to write apology letters in front of their parents.
Out of the 14, 10 are outgoing students while 4 are continuing students in their second year and among them is Alice Wembabazi Stella, the school guild council speaker.
Addressing the students, Amon Zondera, the schools inspector for Kikuube district called for good relations and respect between students and their administrators during or after completing studies.
Peter Isingoma, the school board of governors promised close supervision and asked the students body to always use his offices whenever they have concerns pertaining their administrators.
Buhimba technical school which started in 2016 has been associated with internal conflicts mainly between students and administrators.
Last year, the students chased away the school principal Mr. Akoki Anyamo from the institute by confiscating his phone, keys among others accusing him of mismanaging the school.
