TWO LADIES ARRESTED ON ALLEGATIONS OF SELLING CAT’S MEAT IN RUKUNGIRI

Police in Rukungiri are holding two ladies on allegations of slaughtering cats and sell their meat.

The two have been identified as Kabarungi Primah and Atwebembeire Janet Mediuos all residents of Kafunda cell Karagaro ward Western divison Rukungiri Municipality.

Their arrest followed a complaint from the area local council one Bernard Turyagyenda who complained to police that residents were about to lynch the two accusing them of slaughtering cats which rushed and saved them.

According to Bernard, residents opened a case in his office yesterday, that the two had slaughtered a cat and wanted to sell it as soup in a hotel.

An eyewitness told our reporter that the two had a quarrel yesterday and started demanding from each other pieces of cats’ meat.

The officer in charge of Rukungiri police station Edwin Atukunda, while settling the conflict asked residents to follow the law and avoid accusing each other without evidence.

He said a case file of stealing and killing a cat has been opened against the two as investigations commence.
