TWO MINERAL SMUGGLERS DETAINED AT KABALE CPS

Kigezi police have in detention two people who were intercepted alongside a vehicle carrying minerals.
The incident happened on Friday evening 2/10/2020 at around 08 :30 pm when suspected rough tin in 31bags each weighing 50kgs were impounded in Kisoro district by police under the command of Asp Basima the minerals protection zonal commander Kigezi.
They were suspected to had moved from Ntungamo/Isingiro district.
The Kigezi region police spokes person Elly Matte confirmed that 31bags of minerals were being driven motor vehicle reg no UBF 218B toyota canter white by Turyasingura David aged 49yrs old resident of Mutozo cell, Rwengoma parish, Ruhama county, Ntungamo district.
Matte added that the intercepted vehicle had one occupant Mpamire David aged 22yrs a resident of Kyamatega cell, Katozo parish Ruhama county, Ntungamo district.
The vehicle had mineral dealers’ licence in names of Henry Zinkuratire Mujurizia Nkwasibwe MDL 20200053.
Minerals, motor vehicle, driver and occupant were escorted from Kisoro to Kigezi regional police headquarters, Kabale for further management.
The suspects are likely to be charged with minerals smuggling, transporting minerals without a movement permit and Prohibition of moving a mineral at night.
The mineral smuggling case was registered at Kisoro police station under file number CRB 573/2020.
