TWO MINORS BURNT TO DEATH IN RUBIRIZI

Two children were on Friday morning burnt after fire razed the house they were living in, at Katerera town council in Rubirizi District.
Police identified the deceased as Trump Abaasa, 5, and Pauline Owomugisha, 3.
The greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, confirmed the incident saying that the deceased children belong to Patrick Ndyanabo, a police constable attached to Rukungiri Police Station and Jennifer Atwiine who operates a restaurant in Katerera town.
Preliminary investigations indicate that fire gutted the house at about 10.00am on Friday when one of the children was playing with the matchbox by lighting fire from it, before it gutted the house and they died on spot.
Tumusiime said that the mother had left them in the house to go and operate her usual business in the same town.
Herbert Tumwesigye, a neighbour, said that efforts by residents to rescue the children from the blistering fire flames were futile as they could not contain the fire.
He added that children did not take long to die
