TWO OTHER NTUNGAMO DISTRICT OFFICIALS ARRESTED OVER EMBEZZLEMENT

In Ntungamo—
Two other Ntungamo district officials have been arrested for stealing government funds.
The Regional Inspectorate Officer Mbarara southwestern Uganda, Mr. Oketch Fredrick has confirmed the arrest of two officials ;the principal of Ihunga Polytechnic Institute in Ntungamo Dannie Kasaza Turyashemererwa, and the Ntungamo district engineer Prosper Butubura
Kasaza is accused of embezzling ugx20 million which was meant for buy training items in 2016, while Butubura is also accused of forging papers with claims that he awarded a road construction contract in 2015 in Kanungu yet he didn’t.
Oketch said there is a need to end up the game of corruption by supervising projects among other measures.
Dannie will appear in anti-corruption court Kololo today March 10, 2021while Prosper has been taken to Rukungiri as investigations continue.
Mid February, the Inspector General of Government western Uganda arrested three officials of Ntungamo district for allegedly embezzling 93 million shillings.
The three were; former Ntungamo district CAO Joanita Nakityo, current chief finance officer Andrew Byaruhanga and IT officer Julius Ashaba.
It is alleged that the trio, between January-June 2019 had excess ugx 93 in salaries account which they channeled to their personal accounts.
The three were later charged before the Anti-corruption court Kololo with embezzlement of ugx93 million and granted bail though they denied the charges.
