In Kasese—
Two police officers are currently under detention at Mpondwe police station for allegedly misusing a police ambulance.
It is reported that Masereka Zephanus and Abigaba Samuel were carrying 16 cartons of smuggled carolite from the border in a police ambulance reg. UP 4908 intending to take them to Kasese before they were impounded by URA officials on the way.
Reports indicate that the duo dropped donated blood to Bwera main Hospital as usual and later went into the dirty game of carrying smuggled goods as it is reported not to be the first time they have done the same.
The Rwenzori East police public relations officer ASP Vincent Twesige confirmed the reports saying the accused were impounded by Uganda Revenue Authority personnel while carrying smuggled goods.
Vincent added that regardless of the accused being police officers, if found guilty they will be brought to book.
Efforts in trying to get more information from Uganda Revenue Authority about the matter were futile as they referred www.mknewslink.com to Kasese central police which had earlier referred us URA.
