Uganda’s deputy head of mission to Benelux countries and the European Union in Brussels, Amb. Franklin R.Katugnwe has warned the NRM supporters and the flag bearer for Bushenyi Ishaka parliamentary seat not to celebrate just yet because Don Nasser has pulled out of the race.
He noted that while this is a welcome achievement for the NRM party – it is not the time to relax but the party should continue reinforcing its voter population so as not to give the opposition any mileage as some doubters may take advantage of the gap and switch to opposition or Independent candidates.
Amb. Katungwe said this and more in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing Editor at his home today afternoon Oct. 22, 2020 in Kyeitembe Ward Bushenyi district.
He observed that the Don’s withdrawal from the race yesterday will favor NRM in Bushenyi Ishaka race but is not a guarantee of success in the coming election.
“NRM flag bearer Kabuura Derrick has my full support but he should work extra hard to win this seat,” Amb. Katungwe said.
He went ahead to reveal that the quality of MPs has declined unlike in the past when greater Bushenyi would present firebrands to parliament.
He also said that Ugandan MPs today are looking for platforms to concentrate on getting money rather than quality legislation.
Amb. Katungwe advised Bushenyi political opinion leaders to immediately come out and address the issue of voting for money instead of ideas and save Bushenyi from weak and unsuitable representatives.
