UGANDAN ARRESTED OVER CATTLE SMUGGLING FROM RWANDA

Ntungamo district authorities on Friday returned to Rwanda a total of 11 cows that had been smuggled into Uganda through an illegal entry point at Mirama, Kafunju town council
The authorities say that the cattle were destined for Kyazanga in Central Uganda
Security Operatives in the area arrested one Moses Asiimwe a resident of Kyazanga who was preparing to transport the animals despite a ban on the movement of animals in the area following the outbreak of poxvirus in the district
The animals were received by the authorities from Rwanda on Friday evening while Asiimwe Moses is being held at Miraama Hills border police station
On 27th last month, authorities in Ntungamo suspended all livestock markets in the area after the small poxvirus was confirmed in the sub-counties of Itojo,Nyakyera,Rugarama and Ngoma
