UGANDA’S OLDEST MAN DIES AT THE AGE OF 135 YEARS

Hundreds of mourners from different parts of the country paid the last respect to the oldest man in Uganda who passed away at the of age of 135 years and was buried on 13.5.2017.
Petero Kababure was born on 5.9.1882 at Kyaruhanga village in Ibanda municipality. He later migrated to Ishongorero sub county in Ibanda North constituency to acquire enough land. He decided that farming and rearing animals such as cows, goats and sheep would be his best job.
During the funeral service which took place in Ishongorero, speaker after speaker, praised Muzee Kababure as peace-loving ,faithful and honest resident in the community. They said that he worked tirelessly to ensure that his children received education. He worked as an agriculture and livestock farmer throughout his life. They said that he used to advise youth on farming and above all to get the best education for their future life
Mr. Paul Kiiza, the eldest son described his father as a pillar in the family and Ibanda district as a whole. He managed to live and work with different leaders in different governments including the British colonial government, Obote 1 and 2,Okello Lutwa,Binaisa,Idi Amin and NRM governments. Mr.Kiiza added that his father used to advise people to engage in projects by growing coffee, rearing cows, goats and sheep.
He said that his father at the age of 135 years should be remembered as a hero. He left behind two boys and one girl all whom are in old age plus several grand children and great grand children, most of them are serving in different fields including government and private sectors.
