UGANDA’S SECURITY AGENCIES AT RWANDA BOARDER LIVE IN EXTREME FEAR
of a gazetted place of residence.
Mugisha Ronald the border post head says, the prevailing security
compromise is compelling them not to work for twenty four hours which
is affecting their operations especially at night hours .
Talking to members of Parliament from the East African Legislative
Assembly (EALA) Mugisha said that the situation is so worse for tax
collectors who work in a conducive environment but sleep in what he
called ‘ Manyatas’ which is amidst people they expect to collect tax
from and even enforce some compliance rules on them.
The officer in charge of immigration at Mirama Hills one stop border
post Ssali Harrison said the challenge has since been accelerated by
the introduction of Inter State pass and national identification cards
which have increased movements hence forcing security agencies also
enhance vigilance thus making relationship between them and the people
engaged in cross border trade become more difficult.
URA, CMI, Immigration, Internal and External Security organizations
are some of the agencies operating at Mirama Hills border post.
Hon Chris Opoka Okumu who led MPs to the area said EALA will
pronounce itself over the threat so as to force the Ugandan Government
take action in order to protect security officials at the border from
danger.
The EALA MPs were in the area for a fact finding mission on how the
mail stone agreed upon in EAC are operating
