In Rubanda—
The Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) Rubanda branch is requesting the district service commission to expedite on appointing substantively appointed Head teachers in the district in order to strengthen the Education standards.
According to the Chairperson of Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) Rubanda Branch, AnthonyNgambekiMusasizi, over 45 percent of the primary school head teachers in the district are in care taking positions, out of the 110 government primary schools in the district.
He says that since the year begun, the district has also lost two primary head teachers and others have retired from duty but, no immediate replacement was made, wondering why the Education service commission and the district service commission have delayed recruits.
Ngambeki says that this has hindered the proper addressing of school administrative issues like motivate and manage staff by delegating responsibilities, setting expectations and targets and evaluating staff performance against them which may improve on academic standards.
The Rubanda District Principal Secretary, Bernard Kasangaki said that the District leadership is aware of the challenge saying that they are trying to find out a solution.
