UNEB: UACE RESULTS OUT, GIRLS OUT PERFORM BOYS

The Ugandans National Examination Board (UNEB) has registered a decrease in the performance of students who sat for the 2017 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education in examination.
Releasing the 2017 UACE results, the board’s executive secretary, Daniel Odongo says that only 34,819 students obtained at least three principal passes while 26,122 were able to obtain two principal passes.
“1,141 students have failed to any principal pass in the exams,” says Odongo.
He notes that at the minimum, two principal passes required for university admission, 60,941 candidates (60.7%) qualify.
He notes that when you compare the performance of candidates with the previous year, there is a drop in performance of candidates who sat for 2017 exams since fewer candidates have been able to obtain three principal passes.
Odongo says Girls constituted 41.4% of the candidates who sat for the exams.
He says a total of 101,269 candidates registered for UACE in 2017 examination as compared to 104,243 in 2016- a decrease of 2,974 candidates.
A total of 41,932 female candidates registered for UACE in 2017.
“Whereas gender parity has been attained at UCE, at this level (UACE), the gap between males and females taking these exams is still wide with parity index of 0.7,” he said.
According to him, 98.5% of 101,269 candidates qualified for the award of UACE, including candidates who obtained at least one subsidiary level pass in a subject at principal level.

Wakiso has been ranked by as the best performing district in the 2017 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.
after toping the performance list with 8,538 candidates who got three principal passes.
This was followed by Kampala which got 34,931 candidates who passed with three principal passes.
Mukono District comes third with 3,226 candidates while Buikwe had 1,006 candidates with three principal passes.
