UNHCR VEHICLE KNOCKS JUVENILE DEAD IN KABALE

Police in Kabale are holding a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees driver who knocked dead a juvenile along Kabale – Mbarara high way in Kabale district
Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Ainomujuni Baramu 8 years a son to Barisigala Medard of Nyakahanga village, Kitowa parish, Kaharo Sub County in Kabale district.
Maate identified the driver as Kule Mushen 53years a resident of Nakivale refugee camp in Isingiro district.
Maate said that the driver was driving motor vehicle reg. no UBG 770F IVECO white in colour of UNHCR Nakivale refugee Camp.
This accident happened yesterday 29/12/2021 at about 1800hrs at Kyobugombe trading center along Kabale Mbarara high way in Kabale district.
It is alleged that the driver was heading to Kisoro when the victim jumped on road to cross without seeing the oncoming vehicle which crushed him and he dead on spot.
Maate blamed the accident on the careless pedestrian who was crossing without observing road safety precautions.
Scene was visited by IP Twinobuhamizo oc traffic Kabale and team, postmortem was done and the body handed over to family members for a decent burial.
The vehicle is now parked at Kabale police yard pending inspection and the driver is in police custody.
