Body of a newborn baby wrapped in plastic bag

A lifeless body of a newborn baby girl has been found wrapped in a plastic bag at a lagoon near Jesus lives centre church in Kiganda cell Kahoora division Hoima Municipality.

Kiganda cell LC1 Chairperson Grace Mary Kasolo has said that the baby was discovered by a passerby who was walking in the vicinity of the lagoon.

She reached the scene quickly and reported to police.

Asp Julius Hakiza Allan, the Albertine regional police spokesperson says that the incident was reported to Hoima central police station at around 12 pm.

He says that detectives rushed to the scene and upon reaching there, they found that the baby was already dead.

Hakiza has appealed to pregnant women to always report to police any case of negligence of taking care from the owner of the pregnancy.

The body has been taken to Hoima municipality mortuary pending identification and postmortem as investigations continue.
