Police have blocked a meeting organized by the Uganda people’s Congress- UPC party leaders in Kasese district.
The UPC party leaders were scheduled to meet at Uhuru 50 Hotel in Kasese municipality today morning to discuss internal party matters with UPC leaders from the Rwenzori region.
However, police blocked the meeting pending clearance from the top police leadership in accordance with the Public Order Management Act.
Police stationed one vehicle at the main entrance of the hotel to stop the continuity of the meeting.
While speaking to the party president Jimmy Akena stressed that the interruption was basically due to miscommunication between them and police but was later handled amicably leading to the continuity of the meeting.
He added that the main reason which brought him to Kasese district was to meet Uganda people’s congress members in Rwenzori region not any other thing.
