The Uganda People’s Congress party leadership has released the programme for the burial it’s former National Chairman, Maj. Edward Rurangaranga.
The veteran opposition politician who participated in the formation of the party that led Uganda to independence together with Apollo Milton Obote (RIP), collapsed on Monday evening and shortly died at his rural home ;Kaitanjojo ,Kitagata in Sheema district.
The body of Rurangaranga is expected to be brought to Kampala on today.
On Tuesday of August 1,2017, the leadership of UPC sat and resolved that the body of Rurangaranga be brought directly to Uganda House today at 2:00pm to 4pm to enable Party members and the general public pay their last respect to the deceased.
Thursday of August 3,2017 at 10am the body shall be taken to Parliament to lie in State and at 2:00pm where a special session will sit and Members of Parliament pay tribute to Maj.Edward Rurangaranga.
Rurangaranga served as the State Minister for Local Government from 1981 to 1985 when the Obote regime was toppled in a coup d’état led by Tito Okello Lutwa and Bazilo Okello.
On Friday, there will be a Church Service at All Saints Nakasero at 9.00am and in the afternoon the body shall be taken back to Kitagata.
The burial is set to take place on Saturday in his ancestral home at Kaitanjojo in Kitagata sub-county, Sheema district.
