UPDF REHABILITATES THEATRE AT MUKO-KAMUGONGO H/C IV AHEAD OF TAREHE SITA

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces Western region in conjunction with Rubanda district Authorities yesterday carried out different activities in Rubanda district, ahead of this year’s Tarehe Sita celebrations slated for Sunday 6th of February.
The activities included starting the rehabilitation of Theatre at Muko-Kamugongo Health Center IV, cleaning Rubanda town council, vaccinating people for Covid-19 jabs, Hepatitis B vaccination, and diabetes screening and dental services and among others.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of Honor at Muko H/C IV, the 2nd Division Commander in the Uganda People’s Defense Force, Major General Francis Takirwa said that the activities are part of the preparation for the National Tarehe Sita celebrations which are scheduled for 6th Feb.2022 in Bugisu and Sebei sub region of Eastern Uganda under the theme Retracting people’s struggle for Peace and security for a modern Uganda.
Takirwa said that the activities were a sign of peace, unity and a good working relationship with civilians. He encouraged the graduates to join the Army, in order to be assigned to their respective professionals.
The Rubanda district LC5 Chairperson Steven Ampeire Kasyaba commended UPDF for considering rehabilitation of Muko H/C IV theatre during the time when the government was considering upgrading it to a hospital status. He also commended the Army for exhibiting professionalism in their services of keeping peace in the Country.
The Rubanda District Health Officer Dr Abdon Birungi said that once the rehabilitation of the theatre is complete this will improve the neatness and sanitation of the facility. He added that a total of about 30 people are operated at the facility within a month.
Tarehe Sita is a Swahilli word meaning the sixth day, which in this context is the day of 06th February 1981 when the war to fight the government born out of the disputed 1980 elections, was launched with an attack on Kabamba military barracks.
