A section of residents of Kidodo cell in Railway Ward Kasese Municipality who were found to have encroached on the Queen Elizabeth National Park have been urged to expedite their relocation process.
Ms Jane Biira, the area woman councilor says since the Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA has already launched the extension of the electric fence along the same stretch, it is important that the affected persons respond positively as soon as possible so that the wildlife embarks on its job.
Once constructed, Biira says the electric fence will help reduce the human-elephant conflict that the area has grappled with for a long period of time.
Mr John Siriwayo, the Secretary of Works at Kasese Municipal Council who also doubles as Railway Ward councillor appealed to the wildlife body not to hesitate to offer opportunities especially for casual work to the residents of Kidodo.
He also urged Uganda Wildlife Authority to keep in close contact with the local leaders so that together they forge a way forward to help the community.
