VEHICLE TRANSPORTING STOLEN ANIMALS SET ABLAZE BY RESIDENTS IN HOIMA

Police in Hoima are investigating circumstances under which a vehicle transporting animals was set ablaze by a mob of angry residents in Kigarama village, Kyentale Ward in Hoima East division, Hoima City.
The incident happened on Sunday night at around 2am when residents became suspicious of a vehicle moving late night prompting them to put a road block however, the occupants fled for safety of their lives thus setting fire on it.
Justus Tumwesige and Francis Muhumuza, one of the residents have said that the theft of domestic animals has increased in their village which has prompted them to sleep with their animals while others spend nights outside guarding animals.
Two suspects who were allegedly travelling in the car Registration Number UAF 732R Toyota Corona white in color which was burnt to ashes have been arrested and detained at Hoima Central Police Station.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine police spokesman has identified one of the suspects as Godfrey Tumwesige.
This incident has happened barely a week after 40 people were also arrested and remanded in connection with domestic animal theft.
The suspects will be taken to court once investigations are complete.
