By Grant Ahumuza
In Rubanda—-
Residents of Hamuhambo town council in Bubare Sub County, Rubanda district are demanding for an apology from the Rubanda East Member of Parliament Henry Ariganyira Musasizi for allegedly using an abusive language.
Residents allege that Musasizi used an abusive language against them while appearing on a radio talk show in Kabale town in November 2020.
The residents made the demand during a police community
policing meeting that was organized on Tuesday evening by the Kigezi regional police commander Dan Byaruhanga and the Rubanda district police commander Tai Ramathan at Hamuhambo trading center.
Their demand followed a question by the Kigezi regional police
commander Dan Byaruhanga as to why residents of Hamuhambo town
council engaged in riots during and after National Resistance Movement
party primary elections in September.
On 14th Nov., 2020 unknown people mounted several roadblocks in Hamuhambo town council to block the Rubanda East legislator Henry Ariganyira Musasizi who was coming from Kibuzigye Catholic Church for Sunday prayers heading to his home.
Residents who include the Bushura ward A councilor Jane
Tushemerirwe, the Hamuhambo trading center Chairperson Jack Rwebekane, the Rwengwe LCI chairperson Nelson Orishaba from Bushura and Unity Rwanzigu Benedict accuse Musasizi of allegedly calling them hooligans because of blocking him.
They said that Musasizi should not have used such an abusive word claiming that such abusive words will cause unrests during the 2021 general elections if not fixed.
They said that Musasizi should apologize to them if peace between him and the residents is to be restored.
They threatened not to vote him if he fails to apologize for using a bad language.
The Kigezi Regional Police Commander Dan Byaruhanga condemned acts of lawlessness and use of abusive language during the 2021 general
elections.
He asked locals to embrace and implement the electoral commission guidelines aimed at ensuring peaceful, free and fair elections in 2021 general elections and to fight the spread of Covid-19.
When our reporter contacted Hon Henry Musasizi on phone, he refused to comment on the matter and switched off his phone.
