VP JESSICA ALUPO OFFICIATES AT SHEEMA DISTRICT WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

The vice president of Uganda Jessica Alupo has asked women to work hard to stop domestic violence, early marriages, defilement, and early pregnancies among others.
Jessica Alupo was yesterday officiating at Sheema district Women’s day celebrations held at Kakindo town council Sheema District.
The day was celebrated under the theme, “Gender quality today for sustainable tomorrow”
Jessica Alupo in her speech congratulated women of Sheema upon reaching their day and pledged to help their different projects with 30 million shillings.
She revealed that she has lobbied for culverts for Sheema roads and asked councilors to get specifications of the roads that need them. She also promised a 30km first class murram road in the district.
The chief host Sheema District woman Member of Parliament Rosemary Nyakikongoro thanked the vice president for giving a positive response towards their invitation.
Nyakikongoro however lamented that the people of Sheema still face water and poor road network problems. She asked government to work on the Masyoro gravity flow.
The mayor Kakindo town council Legio Twesiime in his speech asked for a technical institute in Sheema North, Secondary School in Kyangyenyi Sub County and electricity in some villages.
The function was attended by former Sheema municipality MP Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye, Sheema district RDC Frank Kyerere, Sheema LCV chairperson Jemima Buhanda and her councilors, among others.
