WAR IN RUKIGA DISTRICT COUNCIL AS KYERERE APPOINTED PAC MEMBER

War has erupted between the Rukiga district local leaders and the district chairperson Alex Kampaikaho, over the appointment of Frank Kyereere Besigye on the district Public Accounts Committee-PAC.

On Friday 21/12/2017, the district Chairperson, Alexander Kampikaho presented a five people the district before councilor for approval as the new district service committee in accordance with section 88 of the Local Governments Act CAP 243.

These included Jamiru Ahams Maningi the committee boss, David Kabatereine, Livingstone Tugumisirize, Pricilla Tushabe and FrankKyereere Besigye.

However, a section of councilors are crying foul accusing Kampikaho for considering Kyereere on the committee.
Councilors claim that Kyereere the former, Rwamucucu Sub County chairperson who is also the incumbent Rwamucucu Sub County National Resistance Movement-NRM party Chairperson has bad record and is well known for corruption and abuse of office.

On December 15, 2003 Kyereere who was the then Rwamucucu sub county chairperson was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in jail over corruption and issuing documents without authority.

The Rukiga District male youth councilor Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba, and the Kyereere on the Committee, yet he has a bad record is
not fair. They says there are very many responsible citizens in Rukiga to consider on the committee than Kyereere

However, Jackson Muganiizi, the District councilor representing Kamwezi Sub County says that, Kyereere is a very hard working man and capable to help the committee progress.

Mable Size, the District Woman Councilor representing Bukinda Sub County and Brenda Ainembabazi, the district female councilor representing Muhanga town council say that there is no problem for Kyereere to be considered since he reformed after serving his sentence at Ndorwa Government prison.

The Rukiga District Chairperson, Alexander Kampikaho says that he included Kyereere’s name on the committee as a way of thanking him because he helped him win the district chairpersonship seat.

Kyereere told our reporter on phone that councilors cursing his name appearing on the list are only being influenced by his enemies.
