WAS MBARARA READY FOR THE CITY? MORE DISAGREEMENTS EMERGE OVER LOCATION OF DIVISION HEADQUARTERS

In Mbarara—

Disagreements have emerged over the location of Mbarara city south division headquarters.

Mbarara city south division comprises of formerly divisions of Kakoba, Nyamitanga,and Nyakayojo

While officially launching the Mbarara city last week, the minister for local government Raphael Magyezi directed that division headquarters be located in Nyamitanga as it is in the center of the other two former divisions

Meanwhile in a stakeholders meeting held on Tuesday 07 July 2020 at Nyakayojo division headquarters, leaders and residents disagreed with the minister’s directive arguing that Nyamitanga does not have enough land and office facilities compared to other two divisions

Jomo Mugabe the chairperson Nyakayojo division said that it’s surprising for Nyamitanga division which even rents office space to be the headquarters when Kakoba and Nyakayojo have fully furnished office facilities and enough land for expansion

The interim city Mayor Robert Mugabe Kacebezi pledged to consult the relevant authorities so that the matter can be sorted
