Dr. Samuel Tweheyo Kiroha the Kazo District Health Officer has disregarded information circulating on social media that health workers at Kazo Health Center IV abandoned a COVID19 death victim.
Social media has been awash with allegations that Health workers at Kazo health centre IV abandoned a victim after she died of COVID 19.
A sister to the deceased who preferred anonymity claimed that the 50-year-old woman, a resident of Nkungu II village, Nkungu sub-county, succumbed to COVID-19, but the health workers were hesitant to take her body to the mortuary.
However, Dr. Kiroha told www.mknewslink.com reporter in a telephone interview that they attended to the body and kept it as they waited for health personnel from Mbarara regional referral hospital to come and assist them in burying it since they have no one trained for the task in the district for that task.
He noted that according to ministry of health guidelines, the body is supposed to be kept by the hospital as relatives dig a grave and then the body is taken home by trained personnel for burial.
The doctor further noted that the health workers at the facility are all well equipped with protective gears contrary to what Social media reports were alleging.
