Mbarara Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Lt.Col. James Mwesigye has threatened to punish anyone that violates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the fight against COVID 19.
Lt. Col. Mwesigye was meeting religious leaders, school heads and other stakeholders at Mbarara city council hall yesterday after churches have reopened while candidates, finalists are expected to report to school on 15th Oct.2020.
Mwesigye revealed that enforcement organs will do their best adding that they also expect the public do its part by adhering.
“Those who will defy will be punished that is why it’s called a directive,” Mwesigye warned.
He asked Schools, Churches to ensure that they have temperature guns, Sanitizers and follow other SOPs like wearing facemasks.
The District Health Officer (DHO) Mbarara district Dr. Peter Ssebutinde revealed that 7 doctors are currently battling with COVID 19 pandemic at Mbarara regional referral hospital excluding Dr. Peter Mugisha a dermatologist who recently succumbed to COVID 19 pandemic.
He said that they have managed to treat 72 cumulative cases discharging 64 patients and 18 patients are admitted at the hospital apparently.
