Bishop Johnson launching the construction of the bishop’s house at Bweranyangi hill.
He said though Katungu mission Hospital is in poor state but still the bishop needs a modern residence.
However, some Christians were not satisfied with the bishop’s explanation saying that the bishop’s house was not priority.
Pison Mugizi a synod member said the new house for the bishop was not necessary this time because it was not in the bishop’s charge during his consecration.
He said the church has urgent projects that need immediate attention like schools and Jubilee SACCO that was founded by the church and now is operating in a rented building.
Dagalas Rwamutojo; a Christian from Kyeitembe C.O.U says that the current bishop’s residence is suitable to accommodate the new bishop because it accommodated two bishops; Emeritus William Magambo and Yona Katoneene.
Mackay Twijukye; the chairman construction committee Katungu C.O.U says the current bishop’s house is modern and there was no need to build another one.
However, Winston Katushabe; the chairman of the new project says it was necessary and appropriate to build a new house for the bishop because the bishop deserves a decent residence.
He warned Christians against divisionism and urged them to embrace the project for the betterment of their church.
All three Emeritus bishops from West Ankole diocese as well as the head of Laity; Prof.Emmanuel Karooro skipped the function. From reliable sources that talked to www.mknewslink.com said the emeritus bishops were against the move to construct a new house for the new bishop.
