WOMAN ARRESTED OVER ORPHAN’S TORTURE IN MASINDI

Police in Masindi on Saturday evening arrested and detained Suzan Oleti 50, a resident of Kiryana cell Masindi Municipality for torturing an orphan aged ten.
Agnes Okiri who Investigates cases of Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence at Masindi Central Police Station told www.mknewslink.com reporter that she was tipped by the District Police Commander over Oleti torturing the child, and she immediately swung into action.
Okiri asserted that the ten year old boy child was badly burnt in the back, and he doesn’t go to school but hawks fruits in Masindi town.
The police officer further revealed that the child has been looking after the young children since he is a total orphan.
Okiri also said that the suspect is a maternal aunt, and she will face the charges of child torture and will be tried by the Masindi Chief Magistrate Court.
Meanwhile, the ten year old victim was evacuated to Family Spirit Child Care in Masindi as inquiries take shape.
Okiri has challenged the parents and guardians to desist from torturing children since it’s against the law.
